Problem: It takes too much time and technical skill to create, update, and maintain 3D simulation terrain. With Augmented and Virtual Reality rapidly gaining popularity, the Navy will need a more efficient way to generate and update its terrain database if troop training is going to stay near the leading edge of the technology curve.
Objective: To reduce the technical and time costs associated with generating 3D simulation terrain by removing the need to manually design simulations AND instead using simulation terrain directly modeled from real environments captured by 3D scans. Our deliverable to ONR that will satisfy our objective is a set of software tools usable by Marines and Sailors with limited technical expertise, enabling them to produce and modify simulation terrain environments.More Info
